Is there a reason many things are missing from the SUSE 10 DVD? Things like: libdc1394-devel-1.1.0-2.i586.rpm dosbox-0.63-6.i586.rpm libraw1394-devel-1.2.0-2.i586.rpm openmotif-devel-2.2.3-13.i586.rpm These are all I have noticed. I am sure there are more. I know many are -devel, but not all are. Is it just a mistake, or is there a reason / pattern? +····························+·······························+ · Roger Oberholtzer · E-mail: roger@opq.se · · OPQ Systems AB · WWW: http://www.opq.se/ · · Kapellgränd 7 · · · P. I have found them on a mirror. That is not so much the problem. It's a nice solution when you have an internet connection. But if you buy a CD/DVD set, all should really be there. +····························+·······························+ · Roger Oberholtzer · E-mail: roger@opq.se · · OPQ Systems AB · WWW: http://www.opq.se/ · · Kapellgränd 7 · · · P. They should be on the DVD in the box. (The OSS DVD is a smaller version.) Ciao, Marcus

audacity is not on 10.0 due to its mp3 dependency. For Alpha2 (perhaps Alpha3) we have compiled it without mp3 support and include it again. pysol is missing because of MPEG2 dependency. Do you know if it really needs it? Ciao, Marcus

Now, that stinks!! One of the BEST games and it's not included in 10.0! Fred -- Paid purchaser of ALL SuSE Linux releases since 6.x

This is getting ridiculous! Just allow the thing to play MP3s for crying out loud. Good grief even Debian has MP3 players, and you can't get any more anal about free, and legal! I'm getting worn thin on SUSE's flimsy excuses for not having MP3 support. -- See Ya' Howard Coles Jr. John 3:16!

When you are Novell, I'm sure there are companies and people out there just ready to settle old scores if you don't tread carefully. I'm sure there are other small guys who will provide that stuff, I build my own. Taking Debian to court would only accrue enough damages to keep the lawyers in icecream for the duration of the trial if it's held in an average summer. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... That is the whole mentality that I find ridiculous. Why? Because whether they put it on a CD or have it downloadable from their web site they STILL distribute it, there is no legal difference. So why jump through a thousand hoops, create crappy crippleware, when you are going to distribute the stuff anyway? -- See Ya' Howard Coles Jr. John 3:16!

Howard, you are a little bit OT here. They DO have it. Just they can not distribute it, so you need to add it later. -- -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny)

Even worse, I'm also hit with the Yast freeze on the entire system after an update!!!! So, I can't get to the dvd and add any software!! Plus, the module for the SB Audigy2 SZ sound card isn't working properly, so I get sound on games, but not ogg-v files.....NO music!! NOT good!! Funny, my SB Audigy2 Platinum works flawlessly.
Sound now works. I deleted the card, reconfigured, deleted, reconfigured, and FINALLY, after a reboot..........now works. Go figure. After a reboot and having Yast upgrade the nVidia driver, it didn't work....NO 3D. I had Yast install it again, and rebooted, again went into sax2 and the driver was indeed installed.
