Good lord. Thank you guys for having this thread, and especially to Paul for posting the success message. I clobbered two expensive Dell workstations at my current job in exactly this way while installing SuSE (bad for my advocacy efforts, if nothing else ), and we were all clueless as to where to look for the culprit.
