[opensuse] SLES 10 - firewall disabled, but all ports still blocked from outside
Hello, After disabling the firewall, nmap from other workstations show the all ports closed. Even after uninstalling the SuSEfirewall, all the ports are still closed. Yast, Services shows the firewall is off. Any ideas what app is block all the ports? Thank you, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

IIrc you have to specify which ports you want letting in. If the firewall is off then everything is closed. If I run a webserver I must let http, 80 through for example. The other problem I had even if you are running no services is that the gateway is wrong. My lan is 192.168.1.x but my adsl router is 192.168.0.254 so the gateway on my lan router, the one with 2 network interfaces must do it's magic too. Internal interface and external interface. You can choose in Yast. HTH -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, if the firewall is off, all ports are open. iptables -L will show you. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
