[opensuse] Nintendo question
HI all, My lady friend's daughter has a nintendo game machine, which she loves. Anyway I found a place where I can d/l allot of games for her. BUT could someone tell me how to move the games from my system to her little machine. I looked at a nintendo chip and its not like anything I use. I'm using 11.2 and 11.0. Typically the downloadable ROMs for the various older consoles (such as the original Nintendo console and so on) that you can dig up are "intended" to be used with emulators (many of which are available from the community repositories). Moving the ROMs to a cartridge that will plug into an old/original Nintendo is usually beyond the reach of most home users..... unless you happen to have an EEPROM burner laying around, plus the appropriate cartridge hardware :-) If it's a newer unit that uses DVDs or CDs to load the games... then typically you need to have a modified console. The hardware modifications will allow you to load and play the downloaded content. It's worth noting that the companies who build the consoles do not condone or like it when people download ROMs or ripped games - it is classed as pirating. Microsoft for example takes a hardline on modded XBox consoles, permanently banning them from XBox Live regardless if they are being used to play pirated games or not (some people mod the console hardware so they can use it as a media center).
