/sbin/ifconfig
2) Where can I find all the user accounts. In which directory?
/etc/passwd, but you do not want to modify this file directly. Use yast instead.

1) What is the command that I can see my network status, IP address etc etc.
Try 'ifconfig', that's what I use.
2) Where can I find all the user accounts. In which directory?
Unless you've changed something, they should be in /home/ Ie, mine is: /home/agtiger -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Hi people just a couple of questions: hey, you're right, these are easy. Even I can answer them :-)
1) What is the command that I can see my network status, IP address etc etc. ifconfig will give you ip address and some other info
2) Where can I find all the user accounts. In which directory? You can find them under /root. If you had a user called guest, you would find that user's files under /root/guest

This is completely wrong. /root is the home directory of user root. User home directories are under /home. Now back to your question: /etc/passwd file lists all the user accounts your system has. Try: # man 5 passwd -- Nadeem :) http://www.nadmm.com/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
I am upgrading my kernel image from 2.2.7 to 2.2.13. I got 2.2.13 off of ftp.suse.com. My gcc version is 2.7.2.3. I got error about multiple network card modules, so I removed all but 3Com. Now I get the following: # make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/linux-2.2.13.SuSE/arch/i386/boot' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.2.13.SuSE/include -E -D__BIG_KERNE L__ -traditional -DSVGA_MODE=NORMAL_VGA bootsect.S -o bbootsect.s as86 -0 -a -o bbootsect.o bbootsect.s make[1]: as86: Command not found make[1]: *** [bbootsect.o] Error 127 make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/linux-2.2.13.SuSE/arch/i386/boot' make: *** [bzImage] Error 2 # What is the as86 command? This is the x86 assembler (clue: .s is the usual suffix for assembly
language on Unices). On 6.1 it is in /usr/bin. The package is
bin86-0.4-54
