Folks,
Now that I seem to have successfully compiled and built QT 3.3.2 on my SuSe 8.0 platform currently running QT 3.0.5, what is the correct way to switch to the new QT build?
Also, I think the binaries for the above QT versions are not compatible and I will have to rebuild a new KDE. Is there a howto somewhere for all this stuff?
Thanks,
Babu
With regard to your last question, I don't know of a "howto" In fact, I think you are asking for trouble installling QT 3.3.2 on my SuSe 8.0 platform (do you have to upgrade glibc too ???) but then I don't know all you do... Regardless, I would make good back ups before I started the install process so I could recover ... But what I do know is, I usually install "qt3" in single user mode ("init 1") by running from Console: "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" (i put all the rpms I am installing in one directory, and then cd to that directory) after doing "rpm -Uvh *.rpm" then do "SuSEconfig" then "init 5" Hope this helps (you probably could do it from run level 3, but I find typing init 1 is as easy as init 3, but then my machine is not running 24/7 machine critical applications.)
