[opensuse] daqmx base and nivisa installation on Suse- kernel problems
I am trying to install daqmx and nivisa on OpenSuse 11.x. I am getting this error: ************************************ ERROR ************************************* * Kernel source does not appear to be installed for the 2.6.25.11-0.1-default kernel. * Installation of the kernel-source package for kernel 2.6.25.11-0.1-default is * required to continue this installation. ************************************ ERROR ************************************* Installation aborted. However, it looks as if I have the right kernel:
uname -r 2.6.25.11-0.1-default
How does one proceed from here? Thanks in advance. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת ä-ö-ü-ß-Ä-Ö-Ü Nry隊Z)z{.ﮞ˛m)z{.+Z+ib*'jW(fvǦj)hǾi

Dotan,
You need to install the kernel-source and kernel-syms package to
install DAQmx and NI_VISA.
The proceed to the /usr/src/linux-<version> and execute the following commands:-
1. make cloneconfig
2. make modules_prepare
This is the standard procedure as per NI...however it doesn't seem to
work for NI-VISA/DAQmx. I've tried unsuccessfully for my latest
Labview install. Opensuse 10.3 works well..and so does Mandriva.
Good luck

Oh really? That is good to know. I will try one of those distros then, thanks. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת ä-ö-ü-ß-Ä-Ö-Ü
