[SLE] Something is changing my modem permissions
Something is arbitrarily changing the permissions of my modem(ttyS1). I will be able to use it one time, but when I come back to use it later the permissions for it will have been changed preventing me from dialing out. I looked through /etc/permissions, but did not see an entry for it. What could be causing it? It started happening after I installed SuSE 6.2. Yast/config file does it. You need to tell it no instead of set in the permissions check line. Steve wrote:

i dont thinki its permissions. When i connect with wvdial, the permission on my serial port change from 660 to 640. when i disconnect it goes back to 660. If I have a bd dissconnect, sometimes it stays at 640. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Go in yast /system administration/config file?(last one) There are 4 or 5 things you may want to switch off including "set Permissions = set" Turn it to off. also "change resolv.conf? = yes" Look around and have fun. Samy Elashmawy wrote:

Or, possibly a better idea is to add it to /etc/permissions.local. It does for me, and the mappings stay constant 'morning or evening'. JLK Samy Elashmawy wrote:
