8.0,8.1, and 8.2 nvidia/PNY cards
Since 8.0, when installing, and having a PNY video card with nvidia ti4400 vidio chipset I have to use the non-graphical mode of the installation. It seems that the offered rezolution/freq rates don't agree with this card. Anyone else had this problem and maybe know of a solution. I'm getting tired of putting in my old TNT card just to install in graphical mode. Thanks Mark

I have a Ti4200 that works fine with my install. I have 8.2. The default resolution that is started with the install is 1600x1200 I think. Have you tried to lower this value? All you have to do is hit the appropiate F key at the installation selection screen and choose a lower resolution. I used 1042x768 without issues. Give it a try. -- Marshall "Nothing is impossible, we just do not have all the anwsers to make the impossible, possible."

Yes I've tried that. In fact I also have a gainward ti-4200 on another box. That doesn't work either. The boxes are Tyan-s2466n with dual 1900+ MP's (PNY) and a Supermicro P4DC6+ with dual P4-Zeons (Gainward). Same on both. I've even put the 4400 into a single processor Athlon box with the same results. Mark

Ah well I lived with it for sometime. No real biggie. I've tried all the ones that are selectable. I think it's more a freq/refresh thing. The monitor and cards are quite capabile of very high resolutions. Once all is installed I still have to boot in text mode. Yet once X is running I run at 1280X1024 and 3d away... Mark
