Hello list, I have SuSE 8.0, recently I have compiled the kernel (2.4.18) and all runs ok except the sound. While loading the system, there is a line which says : ...cannot locate module snd-ens1371... I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audio PCI128 card. Of course I have made : make modules and make modules_install Please, can you help me? Thank you !

Of course I have made : make modules and make modules_install
Did you forget to run depmod -a from the console? Charles

SuSE usually uses alsa by default, so you could try installing the alsa sources from the cd (if they're not installed already) and recompile them: cd /usr/src/kernel-modules/alsa-driver ./configure make make install This will rebuild the snd-ens1371module (and the rest) for the running kernel and it "should" load OK. I tried this and got this: checking for kernel version... The file /lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/build/include/linux/version.h does not exist. Please, install the package with full kernel sources for your distribution or use --with-kernel=dir option to specify another directory with kernel sources (default is /usr/src/linux).
