Hello All, I have had this drive (Buslink USB 2.0 CDR 52x) for over a year. It works perfectly on Windows XP. I would love for it to work on Suse 9.2. I booted with it plugged in, and /var/log/messages gives this: Mar 24 12:19:30 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:19:30 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:19:30 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:19:30 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:19:30 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:19:30 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:19:30 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:19:30 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:21:43 linux k3b: resmgr: server response code 502 Mar 24 12:21:45 linux last message repeated 8 times Mar 24 12:22:41 linux su: pam_unix2: session finished for user root, service su Mar 24 12:26:42 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:26:42 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:26:42 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:26:42 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:28:14 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:28:14 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Mar 24 12:28:14 linux submountd: mount failure, Block device required Mar 24 12:28:14 linux kernel: subfs: unsuccessful attempt to mount media (256) Then, using USB Viewer I can see the device. It even recognizes it as BUSlink. When I start K3B it takes a very long time to detect devices. When it finishes loading it does show the drive, and the files on the CD in the drive. If I click on the drive I get a 'Malformed URL' error. After getting this error it never refreshes the file-view. I do not have an icon in 'My Computer'. I tried to mount the drive as root: linux:/ # mount /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrecorder mount: mount point /mnt/cdrecorder does not exist I used sr0 because Yast shows it as such. I did try to add the device with Yast, but it did not make a difference. I am currently running KDE 3.3.0 and kernel 2.6.8-24.11-default. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. - James Wright
What version of SuSE are you using? On Thu, 2005-03-24 at 13:19 -0800, James Wright wrote:

IIANM K3B does not, by default, show the files on the CD. It is showing the files on the filesystem.

This means that the mount point "/mnt/cdrecorder" does not exist, you need to create it first: mkdir /mnt && mkdir /mnt/cdrecorder. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge
