has anybody got 8.2 to play dvd yet you know the ones we buy and can't watch them -- Hans hans007@prexar.com registered Linux user 289023 "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin

Yes. I use ogle. http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/ use the rpm packages from this page http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/redhat.shtml (yes, I know they are built on a RedHat box, but they work.) You will also need the libdvdcss package to decrypt the region encoded ones... The packages I've got on my box here are: libdvdcss2-1.2.4-2.i586.rpm libdvdread-0.9.3-ogle1.i386.rpm xvattr-1.3-ogle1.i386.rpm ogle-0.8.5-ogle1.i586.rpm ogle_gui-0.8.5-ogle1.i386.rpm I'm not using the alsa packages and I believe I didn't have to use the libdvdread one either as 8.2 already has it. hope this is of some help. I've not attempted to use the more recent version on the ogle page as what I've got is working fine. If you want to try the ones I've got here, just drop me a private email and I'll get them off to you. Paul Cooke

I got xine and was pretty astounded. I like taking snapshots of old films with it too. Just do whats on this link (daily rpm bulilds:very easy) and ignore dependency issues from yast: so far all works. You also must enable DMA in Yast. Xine seems to play everything i throw at it so far (incl. divx) and i cant say the same about all the windows programs you need. http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
