* And there's also kernel 2.4.19 and 2.6.0 on september.
For 2.6.0, you must be meaning Sept. 2003. right? ;) The 2.5 series goes into feature freeze on Oct. 31, but I think it is expected to take many months from that date until a 2.6.0 release. Personally, I hoping for next spring. I would agree with. I'm personally waiting for the 2.4.19 release. I have has a look at the change log for this version and it appears to cover more devices and protocols then the present release. I have tried both the patch and the mantel updates (which contain many of the feature sets in the 2.4.19 kerne). Unfortunately, it isn't stable as of yet. On the upside though I think this next release will broaden the native kernel support for a wide range of devices and am looking forward to better hardware and configurations supported by this upcoming release. Hi gang, I've just installed 8.0 on a new Athlon XP1800+ with 512Mb RAM and it is a REAL screamer. Due to various commercial factors, like my desire to eat and pay my mortgage !!, I've also had to install Windows as I support a large Windows network. I have /dev/hda as a 40Gb drive with SuSE 8.0 installed, and /dev/hdb as a 40Gb drive with Windows XP installed. The Windows drive is a removable caddy, so I can slot a "development" drive in for testing new releases, games etc (which is about all Windows is good for). My problem is that I have to manually switch the boot order in BIOS to boot Windows (IDE-1) or Linux (IDE-0). Can some LILO guru out there possibly give me the settings for getting Windows to appear on the Lilo menu and boot correctly (as tastless as this option is, it will save me some heaches). Jon
