Hi, I am new to SUSE. I want to install SUSE9.0 Professional on HP G4 Proliant DL380. How can I force SUSE to detect the RAID-0 with array controller HPSA6i? I went through many thread on the list but could not find anything helpful. Please help! Rikunj

You might have better luck with 9.1 (or SLES9). See: http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/locate/1110_5561.html Be sure to SmartStart the box before doing ANY OS install! -- _________________________________________________________ A Message From... Hi,
Thankyou for the replay.
What kernel version is SUSE9.1 using?

Hi,
I have a software requirement that needs SUSE9.0.
Is there anyone on the list who had installed SUSE 9.0 on this hardware
platform?
Thankyou in advance for all your reply's.

You can follow the following link for the supported SuSE versions supported on this hardware. http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/options-matrix-all.html -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge
I know it's not exactly what you are searching for but I've several SuSe
9.0 servers running on G3 DL380 with a Raid-1 without any problem.
A few G4 will arrive with 2/3 months and I will probably install the SuSe
professional on them. I don't know whether it will be 9.0 or more recent,
I find 9.0 really stable and like things that work on the servers :-)
Actually I would put the enterprise version only when really required.

Hi Gael,
This was a good big clue for me :)
I have G3 servers so will definitely will give a shot on it.
Was there anything modified or tweaked during initial installation process
on G3?
or the default booting process recognized the raid?
Regards,
Rikunj

As far as I remember, everything worked like a charme. Actually we have 2
2-nodes cluster (with linux-ha and drbd, i.e without external storage)
with SuSe 9.0 Professional in production since one year and never have a
problem.
The services in cluster are apache, mysql, qmail, dnews (newsgroup
server), and tomcat
