change MAC address of eth0 in suse9?
How do i change the MAC of an RTL8139-card?? I have tried with adding: LLADDR='00:02:E8:90:63:7A' in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 Found it in ifcfg.template. Not enough, it did not change. Could sombody help me out pls? If this hw is run with winxp(lode) it is possible. TIA Leen

Try
ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:02:E8:90:63:7A
SIOCSIFHWADDR: Device or resource busy If I down eth0, then the above, and ifconfig up, it works. But how do I get it done at boot-time?
Greetings, Alex

I could not get this one running, John. Thanks to Charles Ogwe, who gave me a solution offlist: 1. Edit /etc/modules.conf alias eth0 8139too # Change MAC address post-install rtl8139 /sbin/ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:02:E8:90:63:7A 2. depmod -a 3. Reboot. I have been putting the post-install-line in /etc/modules.conf.local, and this works at bootup. Thanks to all who have been helpfull.
