[opensuse] HP dvd640 and firmware update
I have an HP DVD drive dvd640 and can't write double-layer dvds. HP said to update the firmware BUT they only have procedures online for Windows. Is there any capability for Linux ? Just got off the phone with HP. They said that there official stand is they don't support Linux (or MAC, for that matter), so my firmware update is now screwed. I possible, someone (some group) put pressure to support Linux. Regards, Duaine Duaine & Laura Hechler wrote:

HP *officially* does not support Linux??? And you did not question them why they did not support their own products or you didn't know that HP sold computers with linux installed? ps: http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_mailing_netiquette#Quoting -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Just FYI, I have a NEC, and there is a program to update its firmware in Linux, made IIRC by the Dangerous Brothers. I have updated my firmware a few times since I have had the drive. I have the 3520, which has dual layer support, but not lightscribe. Not sure if one of their newer models with lightscribe would also be able to be updated with the same
