Sorry if this made it thru the first time and I missed seeing it; this is a reprise from this morning, PDT:: It seems a bit silly to have a heavy duty SCSI 29160 adaptor in the low-end IDE box that I'm trying out for SuSE 6.4, but that's how it works. I figured that the easiest way of reconfiguring my system was to do a full re-install since the YaST utility made things so push-button. But, no success. After the first CD loaded to the 40% mark everything hung. The mouse responded, but that was all: The buttons did not. With Linux and with this distro I'm a newbie. I would like to know if the Adaptec 29160 works with 6.4 and if so, how (cookbook-style, please!) I add the kernel module. Within the next month I will add a 10/100Mb/sec network card to my SuSE box and tie it in with my other systems; until then, the Linux box it strictly unconnected.... thanks for any clues re the 29160, gary -- Gary D.
