Hello! I suscribed to this list a few days ago and I see that I'm getting so many messages a day (from 50 to 200 approx.). Therefore, I'm tempted to suggest to split this list in (at least) two parts: suse-linux-chat-e suse-linux-general-tech-e This last one COULD even be split into newbie / medium / advanced but it might not have the best effects (the newbie might not profit from the experience from the advanced people if he neglected to subscribe to this list). What do you think about it? That sounds about right for this particualr list.
to split this list in (at least) two parts: <snip> What do you think about it?
This question comes up periodically, and the usual answer is: forget about it. :) And the typical reason why that is usually because it's difficult to define the line on where to cut the list, and some people will nautually be inclined to spam multiple list to find an answer. The best solution has always been to leave it alone. As for reading the list, I usually skim through the list on a daily basis by glancing at the subject headers and picking only those that I find interesting to read. On the weekend, I would spend a few hours going through the previous week email, reading some in greater depth and marking the rest as read in my email program. It's always important to have an email program with a filter to divert the list email to another folder and leaving the Inbox folder with email that should catch your attention. The chat-e might be nice.

Splitting into newbie, medium, etc, is generally a bad idea and has been discussed many times here. Greg -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
I prefer leaving the list as is. I agree with Christopher. I skim the topics, delete the ones I'm not currently interested in, and save the others for later. I know that I can always go to the archives to look up something at a later date if I have already deleted it. Personally, I enjoy reading what everybody has to say about SuSE, whether it be newbie, or LenZ. Just my 2 cents worth. Jerry Patriiiiiiiiiick wrote:

This has been talked about from time to time. We have always decided that it is better to keep things the way they are. I had the same experience. I was astounded by the number of messages I receive every day. I would like to see this list in digest form, but apparently this is not yet possible. The sooner the better... David On Mon, 7 Aug 2000, Patriiiiiiiiiick wrote:
