-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi: I bought a USB Hard Drive from eBay. No brand name, except it says it's made in China. Works with Windows. I have SuSE 7.2 and two USB ports. My FD is external, and I can access it if I do: modprobe usb-storage mount /dev/sda /floppy -t vfat But with this unit, it does not work. It says "/dev/sda unknown device". Any help? Thank you. - -- Alfredo J. If you are dead positive it sits on /dev/sda then I would suggest making a partition and formatting it before you try to mount it. Even if it's seen by the OS it needs a filesystem. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
try /dev/sda1 instead of /dev/sda you might also need to type "modprobe ide-scsi" Ewan On Sun, 2002-07-14 at 21:12, Alfredo Cole wrote:
