[opensuse] Compiz Fusion Window Decorator Question
Hello all, I am running openSUSE 11.0 with GNOME as my DE. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 2600 HD Pro PCI-E w/ 512MB RAM. For the first time (believe it or not), I've just started messing around some with Compiz-Fusion. I would like to know if there is an advantage between the "GTK-Window-Decorator" vs. "Emerald". Are the differences between the two merely cosmetic, or is there a technical advantage for choosing one over the other? I did a few google searches but came up dry, came up dry as well as in #suse on freenode (but I may try there again later), so I thought I would try here Thanks in advance! -- -jayson -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You missed the descriptions here: http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/ Emerald gives advanced theming capability, with gwd you can use metacity theme. Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks! I don't know how I missed that (never came up in my searches) - If I'm interpreting what it says correctly, the only advantage Emerald gives is advanced theming? I did find the look I was looking for in your link though - I'd often seen screenshots of this theme, and I couldn't find it anywhere, and apparantly it's the Cairo decorator I enabled by going in GConf to /apps/gwd/use_metacity_theme and changing it to FALSE. THAT's what I'd been looking for - lean and sleek - no fuss :-) Thanks again for your help! -- -jayson -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Where are the themes? All I see is the normal SUSE themes.

Install compiz-emerald and compiz-emerald-themes packages Run "emerald --replace&" to run emerald decorator after compiz is running. Run emerald-theme-manager to select themes.
