[opensuse] ZEN update error on startup (OSL 10.2)
Hello all, We have been having this problem for a while now...but we really don't have any idea what to do about it. When the system boots to the desktop, I get this error window: "System.NullReferenceException. A null value was found where an object instance was required" Server track trace at:Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.PackageManager.GetUpdates(0x00000) at Novell.Zenworks.ZmdPackaging.PakageManager.GetUpdates0(0x00000) at Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.RemotePackageMa" After clicking the CLOSE button on this error screen the Zen update icon in the tray disappears and never returnes. On another systems this error doesn't show up...and the Zen update icon is in the tray but NEVER indicates that there are any updates Any help would be much appriciated. Hi Chris, I had the same problem yesterday. Check out Don Raboud's post: RE: [opensuse] ZMD on 10.2 without warning has gone T**s up .. It should fix your problem. Good luck, K

Hello all, We have been having this problem for a while now...but we really don't have any idea what to do about it.
When the system boots to the desktop, I get this error window:
"System.NullReferenceException. A null value was found where an object instance was required" Server track trace
at:Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.PackageManager.GetUpdates(0x00000) at
Novell.Zenworks.ZmdPackaging.PakageManager.GetUpdates0(0x00000) at Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.RemotePackageMa"
After clicking the CLOSE button on this error screen the Zen update icon in the tray disappears and never returnes.
On another systems this error doesn't show up...and the Zen update icon is in the tray but NEVER indicates that there are any updates
Any help would be much appriciated.

Wow that fixed the update issue...but why does renaming the file with a different extension fix this issue? What is really happening? Chris On Tue, 2007-03-06 at 18:12 -0500, Chris C wrote:

renaming a file basically deletes it (makes it invisible to what is looking for it) causing the using application to rebuild it. Re-naming instead of actually deleting gives you the option to restore the original if need be. B-) On Tuesday 06 March 2007 4:31 pm, Chris C wrote:

Thanks Brad Got it...I went to that path of the file and noticed that the file is there again...so are you saying unlike Windows, Linux will rebuild a file if it's missing? Does this go for all "system" or "application" files? Chris On Tue, 2007-03-06 at 16:40 -0700, Brad Bourn wrote:

No, only the specific zmd.db file will be rebuild by the ZMD daemon from other data. ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
