[opensuse] How can I play an mp4 video file?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The subject line says it all. I downloaded an mp4 video file (air mozilla videocast) in Miro. When I try to play it in Miro, Miro tells me it can;'t play it. When I try to play it in other video players (xine, vlc, mplayer, etc.) they are also unable to play the file. Anyone have any idea what I need to in order to play this file? Thanks, Rick mp4 is a container format. It may be many possibilities inside. I would suggest making sure you have ffmpeg installed, as well as Mplayer and vlc. Even if it is some obscure format inside, with these you can find out what is on the inside to address it further. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64

Yes, and no. MPEG4, like MPEG1 and 2, is a container format, but it is used to contain known codecs dictated by the spec. It can contain either MPEG4, part 2 videos (e.g. DIVX, XVID) or MPEG4, part 10 videos (H.264 or AVC). Charles

Install multimedia-packages from the packman repository, the SUSE stuff does not have the neccessary codecs. -dnh -- I'm extremely disappointed. I send you out for exciting, new designer drugs, you come back with tomato sauce. -- Dr. House -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
