I have learned that dd ENTIRELY copies a partition, no matter if the sectors are used or not. Now I need to mirror an image of an NT partition of which I know it only uses 1,5 GB of its formatted 8 GB, so what I need is a program that DETECTS what sectors are used (=not empty, because fresh formatted) and copies ONLY those. Reason is that the target partition is only 2 GB in size and I * KNOW * all that can fit on it (as said, it is a fresh install and uses only approximately 1,5 GB of the 8 GB HDD) Has anybody experiences in this? Maybe experiences with http://www.partimage.org/???? Please tell me your ideas, best regards from North-Germany!
