Re: [SLE] playing audio CDs
Hi,
Does the audio player work in windows on the same hardware? There is a
little wire you have to have between your CD and your sound card for audio
CD's to work - it sends the signal direct to an input on the card rather
than through the operating system and bus.

I try to play audio CDs using the audio CD player that comes with SuSE 7.2. I get silence, even though the timer advances; and it also says it doesn't have CDDB data even though the CD is semi-popular. Other programs such as realplayer and DVD software make sounds properly. (Though I don't hear the start-up sounds while booting up KDE.)

I fixed the problem. It seems that out of the box CD audio volume is turned all the way down in SuSE. Luckily someone told me about running kmix to fix this. :-) Thanks for your help.
