I run 13.2/LXDE (gtk) but it should be the same in 42.1. Everything is actually rather logical in LXDE... Open PCManFM (the file manager) Browse to an html file that is on your local storage Right-click with the mouse on the html file Click on Properties Click on the arrows next to selection box next to the words "Open with" Click on Customize A box stating "Select an application to open "HTML document files" will open. Choose your poison Back out with the needed number of OK(s) Say "wow, that was easy!" ;-) Ralph -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Unfortunately this only works if you have an html file stored locally. How do I get chromium to open e.g. this link: www.google.com in this message? Thanks -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

on my KDE/plasma, its systemsettings5/Personalisation/Applications, not sure if that helps. Presumably LXDE has a similar settings configuration program. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

In which application? If You read mails in e.g. in Thunderbird, You must set it in Thunderbird. Sorry, but learn to ask exact questions... -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux http://www.opensuse.org/ http://trapa.cz/

Really? What do we have shared MIME database for - so every application has its own configuration for each MIME type? It would be quite bad if it were this way. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Not sure if we need to reply to every post if we were the thread starter but the snswer is that you don't have to set it for each individual application. We posted earier, it's: start menu.system.preferences.default applications for LXsessions.launchingapplications.webbrowser.chromium Thanks everyone

Thunderbird normally reads general system settings, but it allows to overwrite it: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Changing_the_web_browser_invoked_by_Thunderbird And yes, it has rich settings of handling various attachment types (if this counts). Chrome has in settings possibility to be set as default browser (as any other browser). There should also be command update-alternatives to set it for everyone everywhere, but I have no experience with that. -- Vojtěch Zeisek Komunita openSUSE GNU/Linuxu Community of the openSUSE GNU/Linux http://www.opensuse.org/ http://trapa.cz/

Chromium settings say: Chromium cannot determine if it is the default browser OWTTE There should also be command update-alternatives to set it for everyone everywhere, but I have no experience with that.
