[opensuse] konqueror sftp problems
Hello everybody, I cannot download large amounts of files or complete directory trees anymore from my ISPs server using konqueror/sftp . I use openSuse 10.0, KDE 3.5.7 "release 56.1", koqueror same release. According to two different tests my adsl up- and download speed is same as always. I use konqueror with sftp since long time, it always worked without any problems. But since the provider updated its operating system from FreeBSD 4.11 to FreeBSD 6.2 it doesn't work anymore. Of course the usual provider answer is "we don't see any problem". So, I'd like to ask if it is possible that the problem is on my side with konqueror? Anybody else having similar problems? Problem details (one example): - after sftp-login with konqueror it takes several seconds to show home dir. - click on a dir containing approx. 3000 files of 20 to 50 KB... it takes 1 Minute to show the contents of the dir - after ctrl-a and drag/drop to a local dir konqueror's message "copy in progress" (I have the german version...) appears counting the files, slowly. After 5 Minutes it reaches file no. 2675 and then nothing happens anymore. It just remains at 2675. No files have been copied till then. After ten minutes of waiting I give up... (click "cancel"). I can login per console/ssh to the server normally, als cd to the directory works normal/fast and ls gives the details almost immetiately. I can also download single or small amounts of files (10, 20...) using sftp/konqueror. I guess it's either a sftp-problem of konqueror or of the provider. How can I find out where the problem really is? What tests can I do? Thanks for any hints. You could try the 'fish://' ioslave (which implements secure file transfer over an ssh shell session for servers that don't use the sftp module of ssh). If it works normally either we have a problem in the sftp ioslave or the provider has a problem with their sftp module. To find out which of those is the case I suggest you try testing sftp:// and fish:// connections to a different ssh server - your own, maybe?
