RE: [SLE] setting the time problem
What version of suse are you running? What worked for me on 7.0 was I set the system clock to GMT time, and then went into Yast and configured my time zone and said the system clock was in GMT time. -----Original Message----- From: deem@wdm.com [mailto:deem@wdm.com] Sent: Monday, May 28, 2001 2:00 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] setting the time problem I've got one box that no matter what I do, it reports time wrong. Hi Cory, Thanks for the reply I have SuSE 70 - kernel 2.4.2 . I set in YAST - eastern USA - EDT - because in the past I had trouble with the GMT setting (with-suse 6.1). How do you set the system clock to GMT?, by command-line?, or, with YAST ? I tried to do a command I picked up from the list here echo [`date '+%Y-%m-%d %T'` $USER] Clocksync started... >/dev/tty12ntpdate 195.1 30.132.17 195.130.132.18 >>/var/log/clocksync.log hwclock --systohc But after rebooting, I get the same 10 minute time lag. Maybe doing what you suggest will work, just How do I set the system time to GMT before using YAST to set my local time zone.? Thanks for your help John WM On Tue, 29 May 2001, Cory Steers wrote:
