SLE list and opensuse list
Hi, Apologies if I have missed this ( lost a bunch of email a couple of weeks ago ). Is there a principle or etiquette that determines what should be posted to the SLE list and what to the opensuse list ? I've been following SLE since SuSE 6.2, buying packages as I go. This machine however is running a downloaded opensuse 10. TIA F

I would think anything that refers to to beta/OSS releases would go to the opensuse list. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

With so much overlap between the two where does one draw a line between a downloaded opensuse 10 and a purchased one. Most of the code is the same and written by the same people. I wanted to get this clear so as not to effectively "drop clangers". F

You ONLY need reply to the list. The opensuse/beta may not always be at the same level as the SUSE 10.0 purchased/downloaded version and bug reports need to go to the developers so they can be fixed. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998

The opensuse[-*] lists are for those of us who are working on the OpenSUSE project. This is the Open Source development project that leads to the various SUSE Linux distributions. The lists are mainly to discuss development issues. Any "end-user" discussion of SUSE Linux belongs on SLE. Oh, and you're not running OpenSUSE, you're running SUSE Linux OSS (or possibly Eval) which is based upon OpenSUSE. There is no OpenSUSE branded end product. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org Packages for SUSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms Make Poverty History: http://makepovertyhistory.org
