Dear Friends,
I need to run TFTPD on my linux box for my cisco routers to save the image to. However Upon uncommenting tftpd entry in /etc/inetd.conf I still can't get it to work.
Are the routers using IOS? Make sure the tftp-server is configured in
the router and then use the tftp-command:
tftp router.name.or.address
get flash:/config.text (or if that doesn't work:
get system:/running-config, though I don't know about the routers, only
switches)
To upload to cisco router:
# copy t<A HREF="ftp://address.of.tftp.server//tftpboot/<insert">ftp://address.of.tftp.server//tftpboot/
Simply uncommenting the line is not enough.
Your message is ambiguous. Did you only uncomment the line, or did you
uncomment the line AND restart inetd? The latter is what you should have
done.
If you only uncommented the tftpd line in /etc/inetd.conf and did not
restart inetd, try restarting inetd:
kill -HUP `pidof inetd`
(and yes those are backwards quotes)
Cheers,
kw

Hi, I m agree with what the other said I notice that you must manually create the directory /tftproot. But when you use TFTP (with CISCO) , you'll also have to create the destination file on the server. (You can do that with touch.) Good luck Uturald Olivier -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Hi Leonard, I had the same problem with tftpd and I resolved it with tftpd from CUI University from switzerland. It's free and GPL'ed and very easy to configure. if you need help write me -- ---------------- Simeó Reig simeo@tinet.org Barcelona (SPAIN) ----------------- -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
