YOU: opera-7.54-7.1.i586.rpm - failed dependency...
Hi List, I attempted to update to the newest Opera .RPM available for SUSE 9.1 via YOU, but was unsuccessful. Even, that I have now /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.3.0.1 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.3 -> libXm.so.3.0.1 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.2.1 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.2 -> libXm.so.2.1 on my system, the installer complained of a failed dependency, because libXm.so.1 simply didn't exist... I wonder, that this "update" looks for a libXm.so version not existing for SUSE 9.1 in any packages on my install medium. Would be the correct way in this case to install the .rpm with --nodeps, or good enough just to make a symlink as e.g. /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.1 -> libXm.so.3.0.1 Thanks, Peli

I don't know if this is related to the problem I had. Updating Opera through YOU was sucessful, but next time I open YaST Software installer, it gave me a conflict (though didn't specify exactly what) and suggested I downgrade to the previous version. I thought something might have gone wrong, so I deleted opera, installed again, updated again - same story. I ended uninstalling opera, and grabbing the latest rpm from www.opera.com for SUSE - works like a charm. -- Kind regards Hans du Plooy Newington Consulting Services hansdp at newingtoncs dot co dot za

Could you post the filename of that rpm? Cheers, Leen

Same here. The "conflict" message comes out each time I start YaST Control Center -> Install and Remove Software.

You missed my point. ;) Being curious, I would just like to know that file *Hans* installed. Cheers, Leen

I had the same problem not too long ago, so I just deleted Opera. I don't use it anyway. I stick with links, Galeon, Mozilla, FireFox, and Netscape.
