Hi Folks!
I'm working with a project about programing.
One of questions is 'what do you need in order=20
to be a good programer?'.=20
Have you some opinion about it???

* The ability to break a problem down into painfully small pieces.
* Extreme focus.
* Ability to analyze multiple solutions and evaluate the strengths
and weaknesses of each, and choose the best solution.
* Humility and social skills - NOT!

You need to be able to mathematically model
real life situations. Then it is just a matter
of implementing the model in the language which
you need to use.
You also need to be a "stickler" for punctuation
and syntax.

A friend of mine who's a PhD Computer Scientist says that the reason
programmers are in such short supply is the narrow band of intelligence
required:
1. You've got to be pretty damned smart to be a programmer.
2. If you're just a little smarter than that, you'll soon become bored with
programming.

A clear logical image of what you want the program to do.
Experience that tells you the best way you should do it.
Patience to turn it into something which could be described as "quality".
but I am not a programmer.

A couple of decades ago, Edsger Dijkstra was asked that very same
question.
His answer was: "A thorough knowledge of one's native language."

Dijkstra was (and maybe still is) very proud of his English too, but
in fact his writing was full of bloopers. And in his book ``A
Discipline of Programming'' he made the argument that there was no
point in testing programs because testing could only prove the
presence of bugs, not their absence. He argued that the only way to
have confidence in programs was to prove them correct mathematically.
And he gave some examples of programs whose correctness he had
demonstrated. When I read all of that, I was determined to debunk
it. And sure enough, I discovered a big error in the initialization
code of his convex hull program, an error that almost any test would
have uncovered.
Yes, testing can only prove the presence of bugs, not their absence.
But that's a trivial corollary of the observation that nothing can
prove the absence of bugs.
