Hello SuSE-Linux-Mailinglist, i have some questions about software management solutions. I need a product with the following things implemented: 1.) zentralized managment 2.) Hallo Sebastian, hallo Leute, (as others already mentioned, this is a german list. I answer in english to be sure you understand my answer. Feel free to answer in german ;-) Am Sonntag, 6. Februar 2005 22:52 schrieb Sebastian Bickel:

Create your own YaST repository on a server and add it to to installation sources in YaST2.
2.) User has the possibility to install a product, if he wants to have it. (He must have the right to install the product!)
Hint: allow sudo yast2 sw_single
3.) Push-Technologie (from a central!) to send Patches, ...
YOU could do this (in a cron-job). You also need your own repository. However, this it not really push-technology, but automated-fetch-technology ;-)
4.) Inventory of software
Cronjob: rpm -qa | mail -s "installed packages" root@yourserver
and hardware (must not be, but evtl. possible!)
Cronjob: hwinfo | mail -s ...
5.) definition of different networks or other possibility to devide into different locations
Could you explain this wish in detail? ;-) [Ferdinand Ihringer in suse-linux]
