[Leap 15.4] Dependency problem with protonvpn
Running Leap 15.4 Beta I have installed protonvpn 1.7.0-lp153.3.1 from obs://build.opensuse.org/network which pulled in python3-proton-client and python3-protonvpn-nm-lib as well as a load of dependencies. It appeared to install OK and added a shortcut to the KDE menu. However, when I attempt to run it, it fails with Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 583, in _build_master ws.require(__requires__) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 900, in require needed = self.resolve(parse_requirements(requirements)) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 791, in resolve raise VersionConflict(dist, req).with_context(dependent_req) pkg_resources.ContextualVersionConflict: (importlib-metadata 1.5.0 (/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages), Requirement.parse('importlib_metadata>=3.6'), {'keyring'}) During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/protonvpn", line 6, in <module> from pkg_resources import load_entry_point File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 3251, in <module> @_call_aside File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 3235, in _call_aside f(*args, **kwargs) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 3264, in _initialize_master_working_set working_set = WorkingSet._build_master() File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 585, in _build_master return cls._build_from_requirements(__requires__) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 598, in _build_from_requirements dists = ws.resolve(reqs, Environment()) File "/usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages/pkg_resources/__init__.py", line 786, in resolve raise DistributionNotFound(req, requirers) pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: The 'importlib_metadata>=3.6' distribution was not found and is required by keyring I installed python3-importlib-metadata, but it has not helped. Has anyone else succeeded in installing protonvpn on either Leap 15.3 or 15.4? TIA Bob -- Bob Williams

Try to stay within one environment - you are on 15.4 beta and want to install a 15.3 package. That may work, but - as in your case - is likely to fail. From which repo is the package? Cheers Axel

I appreciate what you're saying, especially as I'm on Leap 15.4 Beta which is a rapidly developing and moving target. I understand that what I'm trying to do may not work (but there may be a way) and may have to wait for 15.4 to go GM.

obs://build.opensuse.org/devel:languages:python Thanks Bob -- Bob Williams

I do not see this package in this project, nor does "osc search" find anything with name protonvpn on OBS.
