15.5, chromium of today 118.0.5993.70 - does not use contents of kdewallet?

Support, 15.5, todays or recent chromium release 118.0.5993.70 just yesterday I used the release prior to that chromium, and the default chromium starting page already offered my google account with the user logo and gmail would automatically display my content. todays chromium triggers the kde wallet (chromium wants to access kdewallet) and i need to enter the kdewalletmanager credential first to allow the app to access its own content inside the wallet. thats at least how i understand the stiation. what i always wondered, the chromum settings about passwords/credentials > chrome://password-manager/passwords was empty before and is still empty in this todays chromium release. but the kdewalletmanager shows kdewallet content with a top category/folder in the tree named "Chromium Keys" and it has a password sub area and that has a chromium safe storage subelement. now i wonder if all the passwords never will appear inside chromium gui itself or what went wrong to begin with and why todays update cleared away maybe some session, tokens, cookies or whatnot. should chromium actuallly store and present visibly the passsword stuff inside its own gui? ty

w command gives segmentation fault

Hello, I'm using OpenSUSE Tumbleweed x86_64 and with current updates the command 'w -sh' as also 'w -s' gives segmentation fault. I already confirmed that other users have the same problem. Is there any plan to solve this issue? Thanks, Samuel

noisy mount output

For quite some years now, output from the mount command grown past the point where the filesystems on HDDs, SSDs and NVMEs get lost among newer, more ethereal "filesystem" types. Video recording

Hi I am trying to record a video from my webcam. Guvcview does a nice job recording the video but is unable to record sound. I have a logitech c920 webcam and I've tried several other programs with similar or worse results. Perhaps the best so far other than guvcview is perhaps obs studio but the lag in the video is terrible. Just wondering if anyone else has successfully recorded a video from their webcam including sound. Is anyone, attempting to fix guvcview as this seems to be a problem since 2021? Any thought or suggestions would be most welcomed. Thanks

Okt 2020 README.md It is some kind of EXT4 corruption. If I reboot, fsck runs successfully, but the error is not fixed. I tried again with the Tumbleweed rescue USB image and "fsck -t ext4 -C -DD /dev/md127". But also this fsck run is successful, but does not fix the problem. Some weeks ago, I made a backup, formatted the root filesystem, restored the backup and fixed some /etc files like /etc/fstab and /etc/default/grub, because the UUID of the root filesystem was changed during formatting. This fixed the same "Structure needs cleaning" for some weeks, but now it's back. How could I fix the "Structure needs cleaning" errors? I do not like to format the root partition every some weeks. I use Tumbleweed 20231001 on a software RAID 1 of two SATA SSD based partitions. Björn

Touchpad palm detection

Hi I'm running the X1 Extreme Gen 2 on openSUSE Tumbleweed with latest KDE desktop. It is always annoying when typing and one comes close to the touchpad with the palm. It gives in the best case unpredictable results, in the worst case deletes text or unwanted actions. By chance I detected a 'palm detection' setting in the config menu for the touchpad, unfortunately greyed out. Does anyone know if - the touchpad supports palm detection? - what driver is required to enable it? Thanks! Axel

The image format developed by Google uses a library that is contained in pretty much all programmes that have something to do with images. This includes browsers, messengers (also Telegram), office programmes, programmes for image processing, etc. The vulnerability is now also being actively exploited. Fwd: bt device in connect/disconnect loop, worked previously

Hi, I have a bt keyboard (using a xiao ble nrf52840 controller). this worked fine on the current computer with tumbleweed till beginning of september(may be red herring). when i decided to remove the old bt profiles and repair all my devices.. headphones, mice and keyboard. headphones and mice work as expected no issues.. the only one is the keyboard that refuses to connect or pair. there is nothing wrong with the keyboard since I can pair it without issues on another xps laptop (different bt adapter) or my android phone. trying to debug but kind of hit a wall since I have little experience with bt errors. in logs i see [ 367.758074] Bluetooth: hci0: unexpected SMP command 0x0b from e8:77:fb:f9:41:5a the bt adapter is integrated in the wifi as far as I can say 00:14.3 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Alder Lake-P PCH CNVi WiFi [8086:51f0] (rev 01) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6E AX211 160MHz [8086:4090] Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi the computer itself is an XPS 9320 I also attach a btmon log when I try to pair the keyboard. I see a timeout event. kernel is Linux abbaton 6.5.4-1-vanilla #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Sep 20 05:07:04 UTC 2023 (fdd7e9e) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux but on default I get the same behaviour. attached also the full dmesg for record the working computer is XPS 13 9370 and the adapter 02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [168c:003e] (rev 32) Subsystem: Rivet Networks Killer 1435 Wireless-AC [1a56:143a] Kernel driver in use: ath10k_pci Kernel modules: ath10k_pci happy to provide more debug info if needed. i cleared profiles and other settings on the keyboard bt to exclude any issues from the keyboard side. this is a linux only machine so i cannot try other os on it. I know, this is the openSUSE support board, but I would like to post this worrying article here. I would like to ask for appropriate forwarding... #libWebP: Well, this is getting better and better. Strictly speaking, the security vulnerability comes from Google itself. Google was alerted to it from outside, had not discovered it itself and initially misled the public by claiming that it would only affect the Chrome browser. A security researcher then also linked the vulnerability to another vulnerability that was proven to have been used to install the state Trojan Pegasus on iPhones. The tip to Google about WebP probably even came from Citizen Lab.
