SuSE Enterprise Server
Hi, I'm going to buy SuSE Enterprise Server and migrate from SuSE 8.2 Professional to mentioned SuSE Enterprise. I wonder 3 things: 1) updates - how it is resolved? For SuSE Personal and Profesional, updates are on a public ftp servers. How it is for SuSE Enterprise Server? Is it ftp server too, but personalized for every enterprise user? How fast I get update after publish bug in software? 2) When I buy SuSE Enterprise Server this year it means that updates support I will have till 2009? 3) License. It is still GPL (except YAST and SuSEconfig), so if I buy one box I can run on it 5 servers? And last one. Is it true that summer this year SuSE Enterprise Server 9 will be available? I can give what I think the answers are to two questions.
1) updates - how it is resolved? For SuSE Personal and Profesional, updates are on a public ftp servers. How it is for SuSE Enterprise Server? Is it ftp server too, but personalized for every enterprise user? How fast I get update after publish bug in software?
Very similar to YOU for SuSE Professional, but you need a username and password, for which you purchase an annual maintenance contract.
3) License. It is still GPL (except YAST and SuSEconfig), so if I buy one box I can run on it 5 servers?
You can install it on two CPUs (i.e. a dual processor system ot two single processor systems) Tom.

As an aside, my SuSE reseller technical contact just phoned me about a quote I've requested for 5 Standard or Enterprise Servers, and told me that for the use I'll be making of these machines (Intranet web/DB servers) I may as well just buy SuSE Pro 9, not spend the money on the Server versions. I can see why he's not my main sales contact. Tom.
