seccheck Problems on SuSE 8.1
Hi, I'm using a SuSE 8.1 Server. Via cron seccheck is running everyday/week and month. Only seccheck weekly makes trouble. When seccheck weekly is running the server is working for some time but crashes suddenly. No access via ssh, http etc. Even ping doesn't work. No entry in /v/l/messages or /v/l/warn. Any hint? Thanks for help Andreas

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Any screen output on the server? Keyboard lights flashing? You could try fsck'ing your filesystems, running memcheck86 and ide-smart, checking temperatures... Stefan --

Don't know, have to check this (and looking for a keyboard :-), but the prob exists since the new kernel was installed...

This is the only problem with this server, so i didn't thought of HW-probs. server:~ # ide-smart -d /dev/hde Id= 1, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 3, Status=39 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=223, Threshold= 63, Passed Id= 4, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 5, Status=51 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=252, Threshold= 63, Passed Id= 6, Status= 1 {PreFailure , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold=100, Passed Id= 7, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 8, Status=39 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=251, Threshold=187, Passed Id= 9, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=247, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 10, Status=43 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold=223, Passed Id= 11, Status=43 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold=223, Passed Id= 12, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=196, Status= 8 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=197, Status= 8 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=251, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=198, Status= 8 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=199, Status= 8 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=199, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=200, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=201, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=202, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=203, Status=11 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold=180, Passed Id=204, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=205, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=207, Status=42 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=208, Status=42 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=209, Status=36 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 96, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 97, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 98, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 99, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=100, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=101, Status= 4 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=253, Threshold= 0, Passed OffLineStatus=2 {Completed}, AutoOffLine=No, OffLineTimeout=0 minutes OffLineCapability=27 {Immediate Auto SuspendOnCmd} SmartRevision=16, CheckSum=238, SmartCapability=3 {SaveOnStandBy AutoSave} server:~ # ide-smart -d /dev/hdg Id= 1, Status=11 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 60, Passed Id= 2, Status= 5 {PreFailure , OffLine}, Value=100, Threshold= 50, Passed Id= 3, Status= 7 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=140, Threshold= 24, Passed Id= 4, Status=18 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 5, Status=51 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 5, Passed Id= 7, Status=11 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 67, Passed Id= 8, Status= 5 {PreFailure , OffLine}, Value=100, Threshold= 20, Passed Id= 9, Status=18 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value= 98, Threshold= 0, Passed Id= 10, Status=19 {PreFailure , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 60, Passed Id= 12, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=192, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 50, Passed Id=193, Status=18 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 50, Passed Id=194, Status= 2 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=196, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=196, Status=50 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=197, Status=34 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=100, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=198, Status= 8 {Advisory , OffLine}, Value=100, Threshold= 0, Passed Id=199, Status=10 {Advisory , OnLine }, Value=200, Threshold= 0, Passed OffLineStatus=0 {NeverStarted}, AutoOffLine=No, OffLineTimeout=34 minutes OffLineCapability=27 {Immediate Auto SuspendOnCmd} SmartRevision=16, CheckSum=2, SmartCapability=3 {SaveOnStandBy AutoSave} Hmm.
