Hi, has anyone sendmail SMTP AUTH running? My Problem ist that I can't authenticate through an unencrypted channel (i.e. port 25). In my mail log is only mentioned that no mail has made and that the connection timed out. My Browser offers me multiple times the password screen (Netscape 6.2). Can you help me? Hello, Not sure I fully understand you. SMTP AUTH does not involve encryption, AFAIK. It simply involves the sender of the e-mail authenticating themself to the Mail Server. I suggest you open a Telnet session and try and connect directly to Port 25; you should see something like: 220 fredbloggs.andyd.com ESMTP Sendmail 8.10.2/8.10.2; Wed, 21 Nov 2001 14:12:29 GMT If you don't, you have a connectivity problem (probably involving your ISP not allowing Port 25 traffic to anywhere except its own Mail Server). If you can connect, try issuing: ehlo foobar.com and you should see a response like: 250-fredbloggs.andyd.com Hello [213.171.xxx.xxx], pleased to meet you 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-EXPN 250-VERB 250-8BITMIME 250-SIZE 250-DSN 250-ONEX 250-ETRN 250-XUSR 250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN 250 HELP And, as everyone likes saying on this list, this query ain't security related, so it's off-topic!
