New kernel vulnerabilities [Testing SecFocus exploit results)
Hello list, Just quick note on new vulnerability in kernel with exploit from Security Focus. Testing results: Distribution Kernel Result SuSE 6.1 2.2.19 No success SuSE 6.3 2.2.19 No success SuSE 7.1 2.4.9 No Success Also on: Debian with 2.2.19 & 2.4.12 no success. Attached - thats all. Is it something wrong with exploit, or i`m just luckyly picking distros? grrr -- Best regards, Gediminas mailto:lists@kryptis.lt

Well, the vulnerabilities are present (plus two other issues that are not
public yet...), it just may be a bit hard to trigger them.
We are in the testing stage with the new 2.2 and 2.4 kernels built by
Hubert Mantel. The announcement about them will follow this week.
If you want to test these kernels, have a look at
ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mantel/next/ and compile a kernel on your own.
Thanks,
Roman.

Well, the vulnerabilities are present (plus two other issues that are not public yet...) Do you know more about the two that are not public? I read something in the release notes of 2.2.20-pre11(?), that there is something not said in public because of the DMCA. This really scares me. ****ing americans with stupid regulations :(
But in Europe, we can talk about it, I hope ... Markus -- _____________________________ /"\ Markus Gaugusch ICQ 11374583 \ / ASCII Ribbon Campaign markus@gaugusch.at X Against HTML Mail / \ Linux 2.4.12-grsec-1.8.2 * Now playing Machine Head - American High
