About april 15 the new kernels were announced here. I've installed this one: Linux pen 2.4.16-4GB-SMP #1 SMP Mon Apr 15 09:54:09 GMT 2002 i686 But the source rpm in the same directory on ftp.suse.com does not seem to match, and when I try to install vmware it refuses to configure saying: -----------paste What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include] The directory of kernel headers (version 2.4.16-4GB) does not match your running kernel (version 2.4.16-4GB-SMP). Even if the module were to compile successfully, it would not load into the running kernel. ------end-paste So, the question is where can I get the source tree for the SMP kernel or is it the same source with a different compile option? -- _________________________________________________ No I Don't Yahoo! And I'm getting pretty sick of being asked if I do. _________________________________________________ John Andersen / Juneau Alaska

Hi John, the latter is the case, you have to configure your kernel and include SMP-Support (same menu, where you can set your CPU-Architecture). Best regards, Ralf Ronneburger
