Kernel updates+ATI drivers
Are there any plans to include the ATI drivers for X.org into the YaST graphics card selection? Alternatively, is there any way to force YaST to run a specific command after each kernel update? Every kernel update breaks the ATI drivers (expected), loosing 3D support and requiring a manual re-installation of the ATI rpm which builds the driver for the current kernel... Thanks in advance!

The same is for NVIDIA-Kerneldriver & X. A simple recompiliationscript and/or onlineupdate of this free availabe drivers would be a nice solution or workaround. Hi, It's not a problem with Nvidia's drivers. You will notice this behaviour if you install the SuSE nvidia patch & kernel (from YOU) when you install the OS. I'll explain: if, as part of the post-install online update, you select to install the the SuSE nvidia "patch" *and* latest kernel, then the nvidia patch is installed in the _current_ kernel - i.e. the install kernel. When you reboot, surprise, surprise X doesn't work, because the nvidia module wasn't installed to the new kernel. The solution is to run YOU (from your current working kernel), and select under the types of patches "installed and installable" - then update the SuSE provided nvidia installation script - this will install the script in such a way that future kernel updates will not break X. Those guys at SuSE know their stuff! It's only chumps like me, who have to learn the hard way. After all, it did warn me not to update the kernel during the post-installation first-run of YOU :) Cheers, Jon. Philippe Vogel wrote:
