Did you "killall -HUP inetd"? oki, Steffen -- Dieses Schreiben wurde maschinell erstellt, es trägt daher weder Unterschrift noch Siegel.
did you restart the inetd service - rcinetd restart or kill -HUP it? PID=`cat /var/run/inetd.pid` kill -HUP $PID what does your line in /etc/inetd.conf for pop3 look like heres mine pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/popper -R also, make sure you have an entry in /etc/hosts.allow for the machine you are connecting to the pop server from like popper: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx : ALLOW now do an nmap and port 110 should be open On Tue, 16 Oct 2001, spiekey wrote:

hey, why is this SSL? maybe you try to connect to a pop3/ssl server but there is a pop3 server listening, which does not support / has disabled SSL? check the ssl settings in your mail agent. pop3/ssl ( should be pops ) listens on port 995 by convention. you have to supply a certificate for the server. hope this helps, lars
