[opensuse-security] What's the future of Firefox in SLES/SLED?
Hi, I just read that Mozilla will drop support for Firefox 2 in December. What are the plans for future Firefox support in SLES/SLED if security bugs are found for FF 2 after December? Will there be a statically linked version of FF 3, or some GTK update for SLES/SLED? cu, Frank -- Dipl.-Inform. Frank Steiner Web: http://www.bio.ifi.lmu.de/~steiner/ Lehrstuhl f. - We will be trying backports first I guess. - If this fails, try to upgrade to FF 3. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-security+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-security+help@opensuse.org

Why is that? That's a serious question, I really don't know :-) Would it be too large, too slow or sth.? Or why not just provide a updated gtk rpm that installs in a non-standard place like /opt/ so that only FF3 finds it? cu, Frank -- Dipl.-Inform. if "too large or too slow" are not enough reasons... see http://people.redhat.com/drepper/no_static_linking.html -- "We have art in order not to die of the truth" - Friedrich Nietzsche Cristian Rodríguez R.
