Hi all, I'm using SuSE Linux 7.2. After I run 'harden_suse' a remote login via ssh (openssh) isn't working anymore. Also I'm using Samba to access a network printer, which is connected to a W2k machine. Samba is still running and didn't changed anything in Samba. Before using 'harden_suse' printing was possible, but now it doesn't work either. I really hope that somebody can help me. Many thanks!! Best regards Christian

harden_suse turns off for example ssh-login of root. Can't help you any more with that one, but...

My bet is you're using cups. Make an "nmap -sT localhost" and you won't find port 631 listening, because cups is not started. Go to /etc/rc.config and change START_CUPS to "YES". Good luck! Markus -- Never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be explained by a .sig .

this is because openssh uses wrapper support. so you need to enable ssh via /etc/hosts.(allow|deny) again.

dunno here, maybe a permission problem, check the logs please. -- intraDAT AG http://www.intradat.com Wilhelm-Leuschner-Strasse 7 Tel: +49 69-25629-0 D - 60329 Frankfurt am Main Fax: +49 69-25629-256 Junk mail is war. RFCs do not apply.

AFAIK changes harden_suse most(all?) lp* binaries to root.trusted and 4750. Change it to you needs and don't forget to edit /etc/permissions.local Mit freundlichem Gruß, Andreas Rother -- Imperia AG Leyboldstr. 10 50354 Hürth Tel./Fax: +49 2233 807-263 / -100 E-Mail: andreas.rother@imperia.net http://www.imperia.net
