x1250 (rs690): DRI status
Hi all! What is the DRI status for the RS690 chips? Is it supposed to be supported? In the Xorg.0.log (Ubuntu) I get the following error: (II) RADEONHD(0): Found libdri 5.4.0. drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID pci:0000:01:05.0 drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns -1 ... # lots of similar lines ... (EE) RADEONHD(0): RHDDRIVersionCheck: drmOpen("radeon", "pci:0000:01:05.0") failed. (WW) RADEONHD(0): RHDDRIPreInit: Version check failed. Disabling DRI. There is no difference between Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex (radeonhd from git, 64 bits) and Jaunty Jackalope (32 bits). I also tested openSuse 11.1 (64 bits) and DRI is not working, but the error reported in the log is different: (II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable From the wiki (http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd:DRI) I read: "Please also note that there is no DRI support for r6xx based cards yet! RS6xx cards are not r6xx and are supported." Please note that the radeon driver was not more successful on my machine in getting DRI to work. regards, Antoine

but the xserver, libdrm may be to new ...

a few lines above, you will see: (II) RADEONHD(0): Direct rendering turned off by default. Use Option "DRI" to enable. try using Option "DRI" "on" (don't know why Option "DRI" doen't work, maybe you forgot it?). Marc
From the wiki (http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonhd:DRI) I read: "Please also note that there is no DRI support for r6xx based cards yet! RS6xx cards are not r6xx and are supported."
Please note that the radeon driver was not more successful on my machine in getting DRI to work.

Your card is not an RS690, it's an RS600. the RS690 is supported, the RS600 is not. The RS600 uses a different gart interface that isn't yet supported in the drm. Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
Thanks for the quick answer and excuse for the confusion between the 2 chips. regards, Antoine On Fri, 2008-12-19 at 10:56 -0500, Alex Deucher wrote:

This has come up before. Is anyone actually now working on or planning to work on the RS600 support? Rafi Alex Deucher wrote:

The rs600 gart interface is similar to r6xx, so the fix will have to wait for r6xx IP approval. Alex

And is that something that somebody is pushing, or just a general "when AMD thinks of it" task. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAklMAX0ACgkQwuRiAT9o60/1IwCg66ZHSmPCYaFRKuWTvSu0cYl/ AccAnigLjBML8ibaoMlViT/SrS9JIw8e =x+u+ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
