RadeonHD not working on Sapphire HD2400pro AGP card
Hello, As suggested in the Xorg.0.log to contact radeonhd@opensuse.org, here is some data on my attempt to run radeonHD driver on my Sapphire HD2400pro AGP video card. When starting X the screen is actually switching to graphics mode and my monitor control confirm it's running at 1280x1024 @ 85Hz However, screen is almost all white and I see a lot of lines flickering, after ctrl-alt-backspace most of the screen turned blue ?! Attached Xorg.0.log file using RadeonHD driver as well as ATI's fglrx driver. The rhd_conntest tool reported this: -------- rhd_conntest: version 0.0.2, built from git branch master, commit dbb073b8.. Checking connectors on 0x94C4, 0x174B, 0x0028 (@01:00:00): Load Detection: RHD_OUTPUT_DACA HotPlug: RHD_HPD_1 DDC: RHD_DDC_0 DDC Line[0]: Slaves: 60 62 64 66 68 6a 6c 6e a0 -------- BTW for some reason this card doesn't seem to support DDC (also WindowsXP failed to get any info on the attached monitor). Any help would be appreciated, or ley me know if I can do some debugging or testing. Thanks, Ruud Linders

Maybe the EDID block of your monitor fails the checksum? Can you try a more recent version of our driver and verify that this problem still persists? Also, you seem to be running fglrx from time to time. Did you reboot and or powercycle after having run fglrx and before running radeonhd? Thanks, Luc Verhaegen. Luc, Thanks for getting back to me. I have learned some more things in the meantime: - for whatever reason my new HD2400pro card and my main monitor (Philips 109P4) don't get along in the sense that there is no EDID info - The same monitor on the same PC does produce EDID using an old Matrox card and also worked fine on previous ATI-X1300 (RV350?) card Moved the new HD2400 card to another PC+monitor (17" philips) and there is EDID info AND the radeonHD driver produced a clear picture! Encouraged by this I moved the 109P4 monitor to that setup and low and behold I got a picture as well, however, the monitor setting section on the other PC had much more limited horiz/vertical refresh settings. So it appears that 1) my new HD2400pro card and Philips 109P4 don't like eachother 2) the radeonHD driver got the (PLL?) timings wrong when EDID wasn't available and using the specified ranges in the xorg.conf file. Now I know how to get at least a picture on the not_working_very_well combo (albeit 1024x768@60 Hz or so) I'll try do some more investigation and keep trying the latest versions of the driver. Regards, Ruud PS I do have an excuse now to buy myself a nice new 20" LCD screen :-) On Tue, Nov 27, 2007 at 04:41:21PM +0100, Luc Verhaegen wrote:
