[Bug 13099] New: Problems with Dell RV516 ATI Radeon X1300 Pro
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13099 Summary: Problems with Dell RV516 ATI Radeon X1300 Pro Product: xorg Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Driver/radeonhd AssignedTo: lverhaegen@suse.de ReportedBy: mads@kiilerich.com QAContact: xorg-team@lists.x.org This is a follow-up to my comments on #12843. I created this "bug" to track the problems and progress I have. Using xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-0.0.2-0.14.20071031git.fc9 on F8 as suggested by Hans Ulrich Niedermann Dell with RV516 ATI Radeon X1300 Pro, splitter cable, and a DELL E228WFP 1680x1050 display. With radeonhd driver I can startx and get a picture, apparently 1680x1050, and with a bit flickering. Changing the resolution with ctrl-alt-plus/minus leads to more flickering and non-working resolutions. BUT when I try to start a greeter the screen starts flashing. I have seen the greeter for up to 1 second, but right now it is only shown in short flashes. But when i ctrl-alt-backspace the flashing greeter I'm shown a non-flashing crash warning. So this is how far it works for me... I will attach the Xorg.0.log's for these cases. With the monitor connected to the wrong port I get the message "Failed to detect a connected monitor" followed by "Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.". That confuses me - I would assume that screen and monitor is the same in this context? The message "RADEONHD: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found" is shown when starting X. I assume that 1:0:1 is what conntest calls 1:0.1? Shouldn't that be ignored by the driver? I would start using and testing the radeonhd driver if it was as "good" as the vesa driver but at the full resolution (vesa can be used at 1280x1024 only). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug, or are watching the QA contact. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

I also have a Dell-variant of an X1300 with the DMS59->DVI-I connector. But i have two monitors attached to the two DVI-I connectors of the DMS59->DVI-I connector. The primary monitor is constantly flickering and blanking form time to time. These faults occur pretty much randomly. The secondary montor has absolutely no problems. Everything is looking as it should be. I tried to set ForceReduced in the Device Section of my xorg.xonf, but that didn't change anything.
