radeonhd, radeon or ati??
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm getting a little confused on what happened at fosdem, especially in regards on what is reported on phoronix: First, on the radeonhd mailing list I had asked about xvideo support on the R6xx, and Alex responded (essentially) with "it'll happen when Tcore is released". Today, reading on phoronix, I found out that Alex Deucher gave xvideo support to the R100 to R400 series on the ati-git tree, and later on that David Airlie did the same at the R500 series and RS690 on... again the ati-git tree? I now am officialy confused, as I thought that (based on the xorg wiki at http://wiki.x.org/wiki/radeonhd) the R5xx and R6xx were supported by the radeonhd driver, not the ati driver... Could someone shed some light on all of this please? They're supported by both... I, for one, think it's great to see stuff happening in two places at once. I don't know much about the technical differences between ati/radeon and radeonhd - so maybe somebody with some expertise will respond with a balanced comparison. Speaking generally (and maybe incorrectly) i think ati/radeon is evolving to handle the newer chips while radeonhd is a from scratch effort. brad -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

You're not the only one who's confused.
At least, on r6xx xvideo will have to wait for TCore release, and
probably more programming info.
Sigh
