Hi, When switching modes using Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Plus or Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Minus the screen goes to some strange color with nothing displayed and no pointer. Using Ctrl+Alt+Fn and back to the virtual terminal used by X server restores the display using the new video mode (resolution). Key Sequence is: Result: Mode is 1600x1200 (initial condition) Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Plus Blank Screen Ctrl+Alt+F1 Terminal display (typically a login prompt) Alt+F7 Screen is displaying the desktop with mode 1280x1024 Here is some information I hope is useful: O/S: openSUSE-release-11.2-1.6.i586 Desktop: gnome-desktop-2.28.0-2.4.i586 X server: xorg-x11-server-7.4-61.63.1.i586 X video driver: xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.3.0_20091026_8b89b9-1.1.1.i586 root# uname -a Linux aurora 2.6.31.8-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-12-15 23:55:40 +0100 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux root# lspci | grep -i radeon 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4850] I hope this is sufficient information for making a correction. Boh. I thought these key combinations were disabled for years now (and Upstream is in the process of adding them again, but not there yet). It certainly doesn't do anything when I'm pressing it.

We might have a chance of debugging that if you could start the Xserver
with -logverbose 7 and send us the logfile. It would be helpful if you
could point out what is added to the logfile at the moment you press the
key combination.
