[Bug 19513] New: [HD3470 + HD3200] Dual cards prevents X from starting / black screen
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19513 Summary: [HD3470 + HD3200] Dual cards prevents X from starting / black screen Product: xorg Version: 7.4 Platform: x86-64 (AMD64) URL: http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg- video-radeonhd/+bug/311748 OS/Version: Linux (All) Status: NEW Severity: major Priority: medium Component: Driver/radeonhd AssignedTo: lverhaegen@suse.de ReportedBy: Egarretsen@upcmail.nl QAContact: xorg-team@lists.x.org CC: Egarretsen@upcmail.nl Please see bug report at launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd/+bug/3... The specs: Asus x56tr Notebook AMD TURION X2 64 ATI 3200 & ATI HD3470Ma RAM 4GB (now reduced to 2MB physically) I can install Intrepid Ibex, but my graphics cards don't work in Intrepid. Installing Ubuntu only works with the extra boot options acpi=off or MAXCPUS=1. Ubuntu Intrepid installed, but i couldn't get any GUI. The x-server tried to start but failed. I also cannot switch to terminal using crtl-alt F1, because X keeps trying. sometimes i get the errormessage: no screens found. I tried ati, radeon, vesa, radeonhd. I tried installing the official ati-drivers. Nothing worked, then after hours of mindbreaking i installed Hardy Heron, IT worked! Installed the restricted drivers and the screen looks nice. At the moment i'm using Mandriva linux, which at the first boot could start the xserver, but then a text based troubleshoot appeared and using this i was able to get Mandriva running. Please see the link i provide for several xorg.o.log files and xorg.conf files from both Mandriva and ubuntu intrepid / Jaunty. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

By the way: i cannot kill X using ctrl-alt-backspace, when using radeonhd. X fails to respond to this command. i can only reboot pc using recovery mode, to get console access.
This has nothing to do with radeonhd. Ctrl-alt-backspace can no more restart X in Jaunty. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the QA contact for the bug. _______________________________________________ xorg-team mailing list xorg-team@lists.x.org http://lists.x.org/mailman/listinfo/xorg-team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

I thought one of the suits at ATI wanted (demanded) that. What's the terminal command to restart X? Does that still work?
