Hi Hans,
Yes, the module compiled from the master branch was more successive, but not enough :/
The two applied logs are produced with AGP aperture size 256 (badradeon-2) and 512 (badradeon-3) Mb.
This doesn't change anything sadly.
The monitor connected to the card is "FLATRON 795FT Plus" (CRT connected through the VGA connector).
I would be happy if this information will help you.

Please attach your VGA connected monitor to any of the radeons outputs and run rhd_conntest, and provide the full feedback. Thanks, Luc Verhaegen. SUSE/Novell X Driver Developer. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
Hi Luc,
The output of the 'rhd_conntest 01:00.00 -s' merged with output of scanpci, lspci, and lsmod utils, is applied.
The second file is a zipped bios dump produced by rhd_conntest by -d command line key.
Is it fine that the rhd_conntest text output so short (6 lines only)?
Regards,
Vsevolod

Ah, i lost context in this mail, but it was still sitting in my inbox... Now i've dug out why i asked you for conntest information... This is what the atombios connector table tells us: (II) RADEONHD(0): Connector[0] {RHD_CONNECTOR_DVI, "DVI-I CRT1 DFP3", RHD_DDC_0, RHD_HPD_1, { RHD_OUTPUT_DACA, RHD_OUTPUT_LVTMA } } So this DVI connector, has DACA there, it has DDC0 there, and the hardware expect HPD1 to be there. But, the hardware doesn't raise HPD1 at all, as you can clearly see from the conntest information. Since this isn't raised, the driver completely forgoes this connector. Can you verify that the connector is attached correctly? If so, can you verify that pins 14 and 16 (here's the diagram: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/65/DVI_pinout.svg) are shorted? Hi Luc,
So this DVI connector, has DACA there, it has DDC0 there, and the hardware expect HPD1 to be there.
The DVI connecor is NOT used at all. The monitor is connected to the VGA connector. The DVI connector on the board is empty, there is no any cable or loopback connected to it.
Can you verify that the connector is attached correctly?
It looks like the software doesn't recognize VGA connector, or recognizes it wrong. Regards, Vsevolod -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

So this card has one DVI-I connector and one VGA connector? Really? Are you really attaching your VGA cable straight to the card, no DVI-VGA adapter in between? Really? An X1950? Yikes :) I would personally go to the shops and demand a proper X1950 then :) Hrm, ebay immediately digs me up a card with one DVI-I and one VGA. That's horrid. Xpert Vision apparently: http://geizhals.at/deutschland/a237118.html 140EUR, what a rip-off. Nevermind what the card will deliver in 3d. But then, this does fully explain your problem. Please confirm this, then i can reliably fix it. Although, you also do not seem to have any pci subsystem ids. How broken is this card! Never buy from this boardmaker again :) Luc Verhaegen. Yes, exactly.

The X1950 GT card
But then, this does fully explain your problem.
Perfect!

Confirm, confirm ...

I'll keep it in mind ... Regards! Vsevolod -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
Hi Luc,

You've reminded me that there is an option to connect the VGA monitor through the DVI-VGA adapter. I've disconnected the monitor from the VGA and connected it through the DVI-VGA adapter and the driver starts to work! So, the only direct VGA connection doesn't work, connection through the DVI-VGA adapter works fine. The applied is a successive X log. Anyway, there are two other unclear points. - 1 - Looking to the log, the driver uses only 256 Mb of 512 Mb total video RAM. Is it fine? - 2 - The direct rendering is not supported. Does the driver support for direct rendering, and if not, will it be implemented in the future? Regards, Vsevolod

Can you tell me what this card is called, what brand it is? Can you also send me a copy of your BIOS? You can use rhd_conntest -d for that. Thanks, Luc Verhaegen. Hi Luc,
Can you tell me what this card is called, what brand it is?
Palit ATI Radeon X1950 GT Super (512mb/256bit DDR3) AGP, Dual-link DVI, TV-Out P/N: AA/X195G+TD52-PM9219 www.palit.biz
Can you also send me a copy of your BIOS? You can use rhd_conntest -d for that.
The applied file is an archived BIOS. Does the driver implement DRI? The X server log sent you before contains warning about absence of the DRI. Is it an error, or the DRI just not implemented yet? Sorry, the file with the BIOS is applied here
